BEST FRIENDS

BY JACQUELINE WILSON

' Best friends ' by Jacqueline Wilson is one special children's novel that I fell in love with as an early teenager. It was published in the year 2004. I got to lay my hands on it at the age of thirteen when I found it gaping at me in my school library. The book had an attractive blue color with sweet illustrations on it that got me craving for it. We aren't supposed to judge a book by its cover. But as a thirteen-year-old, isn't it what many of us do?
Best friends is a young adult that tells us the story of little Gemma and Alice, two girls who have been best friends since forever. The book is true to its name. Gemma and Alice have been friends since the day they were born in the same hospital and have become inseparable like salt and pepper since then. The amusing thing about this story is that Gemma and Alice are two opposites who somehow fit perfectly in each other's lives. Alice is neat and girly, and on the other hand, Gemma is messy, tomboyish, and much unlike Alice. The two of them cannot imagine a life without each other. But there's a twist that will leave them bummed. You will see Gemma and Alice struggling to remain friends and trying their best to cope with the surprising change that introduced itself.
The illustrations by Nick Sharrat are worth mentioning as they play a huge role in conveying the story in the most sugary way. Also, the illustrations make the reading journey more fascinating and pleasant.
The story has a heartwarming and satisfying end proving that best friends will remain best friends, no matter what difficulties come their way. Wilson gave birth to both the protagonists in a honeyed way. All the characters of the book will make sure you have a pretty smile on your face for most of the pages. Wilsons way of writing and weaving the story is beyond perfect for this genre. She writes in a way that resonates with the child in our hearts and makes it easy to understand. The book sure will make many of the early teenagers, especially girls, to fall in love with it and to feel every bit of it. It also makes a great gift item for children to start their reading journey.

My ratings for the book- 4/5

The very popular and one of the most loved books, The Immortals of Meluha by Amish Tripathi, was my first mythological fiction, as well as it's the first part of Shiva Trilogy, and it's not surprising that it has undoubtedly captured a place to my favourites list. Amish takes you back in time to narrate a tale, that will climb up to and in your heart and make it a home. This tale tells us about Shiva, whose own karma,

Hosseini's first two books - ' The kite runner' and 'A thousand splendid suns' have undoubtedly made their place in the best seller list. A teller of tales as Hosseini has been, 'And the mountains echoed' is a beautiful journey in the spider web of tales, and to be honest, my very first one with Hosseini. The story focuses on the beauty and innateness of the sibling relation of Abdullah and Pari and blends you on. I called it a spiderweb of tales
